What´s the plot?
Adapted from John Boyne's best-selling novel, ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’ is a fictional story told through the eyes of an eight year old boy largely shielded from the reality of World War II. This unforgettable tale follows a forbidden friendship that forms between Bruno, the son of a Nazi commandant, and Shmuel, a Jewish boy held captive in a concentration camp. Though the two are separated physically by a barbed-wire fence, their friendship grows and their lives become inescapably intertwined.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a superb film in all apsects for one the story was interesting, the acting was brilliant from all involved particularly the two boys who acted beyond there years, which made the film more tense and made you feel as though you were sharing the emotions with them. This is also done with the music which was lovely. The photography was beautifully shot and when at times they were having fun it made you smile and the way the story was handled was perfect as it is a very sensitive issue. The ending is disturbing and may put some people off but for me it made the film more realistic as it highlights the truly terrfiying time the Jews suffered and comments on the consequences of the Germans actions particularly on the German boys father and evokes you to feel the sadness of how the jews were treated but also how the German boy felt torn between his friend and family and there values.
Another positive point about the film is the theme behind it of friendship which is a positive message that it can overcome any barriers as the two friends stayed together even they didn't realize what was going to happen to them. An amazing film to watch, which deserves oscars and if you don't believe this review just read the others for this film and that should convince you.
Superb but parents please be warned

I have just returned from seeing this stunning film. I took my twelve year old son and ten year old daughter. As the film is superbly acted and scripted the dramatic tension builds. However unless you have children with the minds of bricks (in which case they wouldn't follow) then the last quarter of the film is highly disturbing. Thankfully I sanctioned my daughter to go out before the end. My son sobbed through the final scenes and beyond. The impact will stay with us for some time and prompted some good discussion. 12 is an absolute minimum for this film and possibly 15 or 18 would be a better guide age.

This is so moving and incredible, and although it is so sad, i would reccomend it to anyone (not young children though)
it made such an impact on everone in our cinema, that as it ended, we all just sat there in silence.
I will find it hard to find a better film this year, or any ear.
It's just FANTASTIC.
However, if you're not prepared to cry, or be extremely moved, it's not for you.
